Additional Details

". . . It was probably unfortunate that I explained myself as candidly as I did about the Trending into Maine material. Undoubtedly it will be very much better than my poor judgment would indicate. To you editors, I have certainly put myself 'on the spot' and its up to me to do something particularly good!
"I'm gathering the last bits of research for the work and will be on my way home in less than two weeks.
"In the mean time will you please have my Maine paintings packed and shipped to Chadds Ford . . . . I may want to do the Doryman over again, if we use it at all.
"I hope so earnestly that the offset plates will prove available. Apart from my own enthusiastic opinion of it, so much has been said to me . . . about the success of the Men of Concord plates that I believe any extra cost will be taken up quickly with the sale of extra copies. That is if its the right kind of offset."
